I got up at the crack of dawn this morning to head to Telluride. I got up at daybreak because I had to pack and I wanted to make sure I got a campground before it was too late. Telluride only has one small campground and I figured it I got there somewhere around ten this morning I would be able to snatch a site as people were leaving to go back home after the week-end…and…I was right. I grabbed one right away.
The drive to Telluride was very beautiful as you can tell from the pictures and the mountain backdrop that surrounds Telluride is spectacular. Now I understand why the likes of Oprah Winfrey own homes in the Telluride. Now that I am settled into my campsite I am thinking about staying for most of the week. The campground has showers, a pool, and wifi. You can’t beat that!…and…all I have to do to get to town is jump on my bike and take the bike path straight to main street. The town is only minutes away.
After setting up camp I spent the rest of the afternoon riding around town, talking to people and checking out what there is to do. I am “very” impressed with this area. There is tons to do. There are biking and hiking trails everywhere. I could easily spend a week here…and…I just might!
Tomorrow I am going to hike up to the spectacular falls that are near my camp in the morning. In the afternoon I am going to take my bike up the gandola and ride around the ski area which is littered with hiking and biking trails. There is also a village up there with restaurants and shops so I might even eat dinner there tomorrow night. I am excited about being here and really look forward to this week. I am really glad I came to Colorado now. I wasn’t so sure the first couple of days as I was hustling here and there. But, now that I am settled into one place for awhile I can relax a bit and enjoy God’s beautiful creation.
