Today I chickened out by deciding not to camp at Molas Lake which was my original plan. My face book friends say that I am getting soft and I concede they are right. Molas Lake is the highest campground in the United States and I passed on camping there because I suspect the nights are really cold and I would not get any internet reception. You may assert that this is a lame excuse and I wouldn’t disagree but when you are going solo,as I am, it’s nice to be connected to the world each day. How else am I supposed to know that Lebron James apparently has left Cleveland.
Today I had a couple of unexpected challenges to deal with. One was the weather. It rained most of the day so I wasn’t able to go hiking or biking…and…I couldn’t get an internet connection on my laptop despite the fact that the campground I am staying in has wifi. I finally resolved the internet issue by taking my computer to a local business. Apparently there is nothing wrong with my computer. It has something to do with the local internet providers. The good news is that I found another wifi connection which allows me to post these entries while sitting in the front seat of my car. How sweet it is!
Tomorrow is another day and I hope the weather cooperates because I am itching to go on a long hike or a bike ride. I am headed back up the road to Silverton. Silverton is an old mining town turned tourist area so if it rains again I’ll just hang around the town and check out the sights. I’m not sure where I will go hiking tomorrow but there are many very tall peaks and high alpine lakes in the area so I don’t think I can go wrong no matter where I choose to go.
